Frequently asked questions
Q. How long do my hairs need to be before it can be waxed?
A. You need to let it grow to about ¼ inch or 6mm so that the wax can get a good grip on the hair. For the average woman that’s about two weeks growth.
Q. What do I wear for a massage?
A. Lots of people worry about this one. I always respect a client’s modesty when doing a massage and keep you well covered with towels at all times. You can keep your undies on and I can just unclip your bra when I do your back. It is of course absolutely fine if you would like to remove your bra for comfort but I do ask that people keep their pants on! If you are just having a Back Neck and Shoulder Massage you can keep your trousers on so long as it’s possible to push them down off your waist so I can treat the base of your spine. During a massage I use oil so it’s obviously a good idea not to wear all your best gear. It does not usually stain but its best not to take a chance.
Q. Do I need to provide anything for my treatment?
A. I bring everything I need with me. For some treatments I will need hot water and/or electricity so all you will have to do is point me in the direction of the kitchen or bathroom and the plug sockets.
Q. I have a very sensitive skin; can you use my own products for my facial? A. Yes, I am always happy to use a client’s own products for any treatment.
Q. How often should I have a treatment?
A. Everyone is different but here are the average times for my most popular treatments. Waxing every 5-6 weeks
Eyelash Tint every 4-6 weeks
Facial every 4 weeks
Manicure every 4 weeks Pedicure every 4 weeks
Massage every 4 weeks
Reflexology every 4 weeks
Indian Head Massage every 4 weeks
Q. I have never had a bikini wax before and feel rather shy. What will happen and what should I wear?
A. There is really no need to feel shy, I have waxed bikini lines for thousands of women and it’s all in a days work to me. I also find my clients feel much more relaxed in their own familiar surroundings rather than a strange treatment room in a salon. You keep your pants on during the wax so nothing is on show that you wouldn’t be showing on the beach! I will give you a small towel to put over your lap and only peel back the side I am actually working on, this means you feel less exposed than sitting just in your knickers!
When we have discussed how much hair you would like removed I will ask you to lie down flat and show you how to stretch the skin with your hand to ensure the most comfortable wax. Then I wipe the area with some gel to make sure there are no oils or sweat on the skin and lightly powder the area. This helps the wax to get a good grip on the hairs. I will then roll on the wax, apply a paper strip and pull it briskly off. When all the hair is removed I apply a soothing aftercare cream. Voila! You will be beautifully hair free!
Q. I don’t have much space in my flat, can you still come and do treatments for me?
A. Yes, I can adapt to any situation, you would be surprised at some of the tiny spaces I have worked in! If space is really so tight I cannot use my couch it is quite OK for you to have your treatment on your bed or sofa. The only exception is Massage for which I really do need to use my couch.
Q. Do you take Cheques and Credit Cards?
A. I am always happy to take a Cheque with a guarantee card but don’t have facilities for Credit Cards.
Q. If I join your mailing list will you pass my details on to others?
A. Absolutely not. Any email address (or indeed any other personal details) given to me stays with me and is only used in connection with Mobile Beauty Therapy. You can unsubscribe to my Newsletter at any time.
Q. I have a disability, can you accommodate me?
A. I have lots of disabled clients and always welcome more. If you make me aware of your problems when booking your treatment we can discuss how best your needs can be met. Usually mobility problems are not an issue as you are being treated at home where everything is set up for your comfort. Lots of treatments can be done in a wheelchair or lying on your bed or sofa. If you are in doubt call me for a chat and I am sure I will be able to put your mind at rest.
